Benjamin (BJ) King, City Administrator, City of Pataskala was recently appointed Vice-Chair of the Next Generation Committee by the OCMA Board at the August 24, 2017 board meeting. Mr. King has served as City Administrator of Pataskala since 2014. Prior to that, Mr. King was the Director of Public Services for Pataskala from 2007 to 2014. King's experience includes personnel management, including the completion of a staffing plan to identify potential personnel changes that would be beneficial to meet expectations and the workload of a growing community, financial management, community outreach, including in-depth work with social media, and economic development that involved creating a marketing package for the city of Pataskala. Mr. King has a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's in public administration from Kent State University. Professionally, Mr. King is a member of ICMA, OCMA and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission Policy and Transportation Committee.
When asked why he is interested in serving on the Next Generation Committee, Mr. King responded that it is very important to bring younger folks along in the profession as well as recruit new members to OCMA. In addition, Mr. King noted that there is an untapped opportunity to reach out to OCMA members via social media. He added that he can bring enthusiasm to the role because he loves what he does.
