The City of Northwood, Ohio is seeking to fill the full-time position of Director of Public Service. This position is an unclassified executive position appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council. The Director will lead and manage the Public Works Department; provide professional direction to staff and provide executive support/management of City capital and infrastructure projects and activities. The position is responsible for the development/management of the department budget, managing all department projects such as but not limited to street/sidewalk repair, snow removal, buildings/grounds maintenance and related projects, street/roadway/facilities constructions, etc. Position responds to City Council and public inquiries and requests; coordinates outside consultants and agencies to complete project studies, designs, plan preparation, and construction; interacts with other government agencies and cities; researches, develops, and writes Department policies; maintains a level of planning, performance and goal review to seek the accreditation by the American Public Works Association. Work involves providing managerial direction to the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor
The City is located in Northwest Ohio, the middle of the rapid economic growth of Wood County along I-75 and in close proximity to downtown Toledo.
Qualifications: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or other related field. Possession of Ohio Professional Engineer certification preferred, but not required. Five to seven years of relevant management experience with a background in engineering, project management, construction management, or related field; valid Ohio Driver’s License; or any combination of education, training and work experience which provides the required skill sets to perform the essential functions of the job.
Salary Range: $90,000 – $100,000.Compensation will be competitive and based upon qualifications. The City of Northwood provides a comprehensive benefits package including an Ohio Public Employees Retirement (OPERS) account.
