The Village of Covington, Ohio, is seeking a highly qualified professional to be the Village’s third Village Administrator. This position is highly active in the community and serves as the manager of the Administration, Finance, Public Works, and Utilities departments.
Community
Covington is a community of approximately 2,500 residents located north of Dayton in western Miami County with an annual operating budget of $5 million. The Village provides to residents a full-service police department and contracts with the Covington Fire & Rescue for fire and EMS services.
The Village has seen substantial positive changes over the last three years, with the development of Schoolhouse Park, the redevelopment of its downtown area, and the investment in improvements to its government center. The Village also is undergoing the construction of a new state of the art Wastewater Plant that will serve the needs of the Village for many years to come.
Covington’s location with three state routes (US36, SR41, and SR48) along with the beautiful and scenic Stillwater River, makes the community an ideal place to run a business or raise a family. With strong schools, a diverse and well established light industrial base, and tremendous growth opportunities, the community is ready for its next leader.
Qualifications
The successful candidate shall have a minimum of five (5) years of professional supervisory/management experience in the public sector. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Community Planning, Law or related fields is preferred.
Additional requirements include a valid Ohio driver’s license. An Ohio EPA Class I Water and/or Class II Sewer treatment license is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills to develop partnerships, regional cooperation, resident involvement, and initiatives to build on the Village’s accomplishments are necessary. Skill in economic development, grant writing and capital improvement initiatives is preferred.
Compensation
Salary range is $80,000 to $90,000 with a complete benefit package that includes all Federal holidays (11), sick leave and personal days off, a generous vacation leave package, health insurance and Village funded HSA, and a flexible work schedule.
