RECREATION SUPERVISOR – AQUATIC FACILITIES (Full-Time)
The Position: Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, is recruiting a dynamic aquatics supervisor with a strong facilities background. The ideal candidate has experience in leading day-to-day operation and comprehensive maintenance of aquatic facilities, as well as experience in coordinating the administration, operation, and maintenance of recreation aquatic programs.
Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Recreation Director, the Aquatic Facility Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of all aquatic facilities and mechanical equipment as well as the management of the aquatic staff, including:
· Oversees daily operation and maintenance of aquatic and related facilities and mechanical equipment.
· Schedules routine maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
· Monitors pool chemistry and maintains all required records, including daily testing.
· Ensures operations meet state and local regulations, coordinates regular health department inspections, and secures annual pool operations license.
· Safely uses and maintains chemicals used in pools (e.g., sodium bicarbonate, calcium chloride, acid, and chlorine.)
· Schedules, supervises, trains and evaluates staff.
· Maintains regular in-service training for aquatic staff.
· Plans pool schedule and coordinates program schedules with recreation staff.
· Supervises, recommends, and monitors program fees.
· Supervises operating budget and makes recommendations for capital expenditures.
· Oversees graduated private and group swim lessons and related programs.
· Ensures that instructional programs meet American Red Cross guidelines.
· Maintains all records of swim lesson participants to be referenced for level ability.
· Ensures a safe environment and documents accidents and injuries.
· Coordinates staffing and provides oversight for rentals and parties.
· Supervises facility rental use by swim and dive teams, including swim meets.
· Supervises janitorial services for aquatics facilities, including locker rooms.
· Arranges for specialized maintenance or repairs.
· Ensures work is completed to standards and on budget.
· Coordinates other facility maintenance and service as directed.
· Effectively communicates facility use and maintenance schedules.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum qualification requires the following certifications:
· 3 years leading or supervising aquatics and/or facility maintenance operations.
· Certified Pool Operator License (CPO) certification (Pool & Hot Tub Alliance) or ability to secure certification within six months of hire.
· Possess a valid concussion training certification, within 90 days of hire.
· CPR/AED/First Aid for Professional Rescuers certification (American Red Cross).
· Lifeguard certification (American Red Cross) or ability to secure certification within one year of hire.
Preferred qualification requires the following certifications:
· 4+ years directly leading aquatics and/or facility maintenance operations.
· Certified Pool Operator License (CPO) certification (Pool & Hot Tub Alliance).
· Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification (NRPA).
· Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification (American Red Cross).
· Possess advanced swimming strokes per the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors certification.
· Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Water Safety Instructor (WSI) manual.
· Water Safety Instructor Training (WSIT) certification (American Red Cross).
· Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification (American Red Cross).
· Lifeguarding Instructor Trainer (LGIT) certification (American Red Cross).
Must be able to drive, walk, sit, stand, see, use hands, speak, and hear, operate standard office equipment, use a personal computer and related software programs, and lift, carry and push up to 50 lbs. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and remain insurable under the Township’s vehicle insurance plan.

Compensation & Benefits: Pay range is $50,107 to $65,915 (effective 12/25/23) and is an exempt, non-union supervisory position. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate’s experience, qualifications, and related skills, knowledge, and ability.
