The City of Powell is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as its next Director of Public Service. This position plays a critical role in infrastructure maintenance, capital improvement planning, snow and ice operations, fleet and facilities management, and cross-departmental coordination.
Starting Salary
$115,000 – $125,000 per year

- Paid Time Off: 13 paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation leave. Prior service credit is applied when calculating vacation accrual.

- Life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment coverage at one (1) times annual earnings (up to $100,000) provided at no cost.
- Participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and operational oversight to the Public Service, Engineering, and Parks & Recreation Departments.
- Direct planning and execution of street, stormwater, park, and facility maintenance projects.
- Oversee snow and ice removal efforts to ensure safe roadway conditions.
- Develop and manage the department’s annual operating and Capital Improvement Program budgets.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns from City Council, staff, residents, and community stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other agencies and consultants on infrastructure planning and execution.
- Ensure department compliance with city ordinances and federal, state, and local laws.
- Participate in union negotiations and cooperative purchasing agreements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible managerial and administrative experience in public services or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and team-building skills.
- In-depth knowledge of public infrastructure systems and operations.
