Human Resources Director – Human Resources Department/Administrative Services Bureau

Salaried/FLSA-Exempt Full Time (40hrs/wk)

Position Summary: The Human Resources Director is responsible for administering and directing the City’s human resources functions; ensuring uniform application of City policies; ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local employment laws.

Critical Skills:

·        Knowledge of labor law and laws related to human resources, such as Equal Employment Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Family and Medical Leave Act; Ohio Worker’s Compensation and more

·        Labor relations – collective bargaining and all related State Employee Relations Board requirements

·        Knowledge of basic budgetary principles and practices

·        Ability to speak effectively one-to-one and before groups and respond to questions

·        Ability to deliver effective presentations and training

·        Excellent attention to detail and understanding of the comments or questions of others

·        Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality

·        Effective leadership skills to develop cooperative working relationships with employees, senior management, elected officials, the public, partner agencies, and others

·        Ability to effectively manage conflict or dissent and use it productively to enhance the quality of decisions

·        Knowledge of administration and supervision of staff and activities

·        Knowledge of payroll concepts

·        Effectively and successfully select and evaluate employees

·        Provide performance feedback and facilitate professional growth

Experience & Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources required, Master’s degree or advanced HR credentials preferred; seven (7) to ten (10) years of manager/director-level experience; valid Ohio Driver’s license; or any combination of education, training and work experience which provides the required skills to perform the essential functions of the job.

Pay & Benefits: The salary range is $51.55 to $72.17 per hour (annualized) in Pay Band 11 of the City Wage Ordinance.  Benefits include: vacation & sick leave; medical, dental, vision insurance; Ohio Public Employees Retirement (OPERS).
